Leisurewear and casual workwear often involve contact with mud, water, paint, grease and debris. In these conditions the majority of people need to wear practical clothing. Leisurewear and casual workwear require comfort, such as fleeces. A material which is harsh upon the skin or tight could prevent a person from fully enjoying or concentrating in their activity. Leisure time may involve outside sports therefore it is important to have clothing which is warm (such as thermal wear) and waterproof. Many people enjoy crafts or construction in their spare time, for such activities overalls (possibly disposable) may be useful in preventing damage to clothing. If such activities take place outdoors during late hours then reflective wear is appropriate to ultimately prevent accidents.

Luxury brands are often expensive and when purchased often unused if damage or dirt is inevitable. Luxury brands have the advantage of their brand name and aesthetics, however when people wish to attain focus on their activity or work in environments such as the countryside they may prefer colours which complement the outdoors rather than wearing colours which contribute towards more interesting designs that the luxury brands provide.

Leisurewear includes lightweight short coats, these are best for sports, working at heights or intense working conditions, enabling the legs to mobilise freely. Longer coats are ideal for long distance walking or sitting outdoors for long periods as they protect against sudden rain and keep the whole body warm. Hobbies are pursued on a regular basis therefore the same items may be worn each time. These items should be produced from durable materials so they last as long as possible.
